Key Responsibilities
As a Security Engineer II, you will:
- Conduct red team engagements across Amazon’s infrastructure, services, and processes.
- Develop detailed engagement plans and emulate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
- Document timelines, attack paths, findings, and recommendations thoroughly.
- Collaborate with partner teams, service owners, and senior leadership to prioritize and resolve security findings.
- Perform manual examinations of systems, applications, and networks to identify weaknesses.
- Create high-quality exploit chains, proof-of-concept scenarios, and reports for stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of tools, processes, and documentation to enhance red team operations.
- Mentor and train other Red Team engineers and assist in recruiting and interviewing new talent.
Requirements and Skills
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Three or more years of expertise with object-oriented programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java,.Net, C++, or other comparable languages.
- 3+ years of experience on a Red Team or in offensive security roles.
- 2+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with AWS products and services.
- Experience with offensive security tools such as Cobalt Strike, Metasploit, and Burp Suite.
- Strong familiarity with the tactics, methods, and procedures (TTPs) of the adversary.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Resilience and composure in ambiguous or high-pressure situations.
- A customer-obsessed mindset focused on keeping Amazon and its customers secure.
